This policy explains what personal information Sturgis Jewelry collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to sturgisjewelry.com, to emails we send you, and to purchases you make from us in person at shows and events.

Who we are

Information we collect

Information you give us

• When you place an order: your name, email address, shipping and billing addresses, phone number if you provide one, any order notes or coupon code you enter, and the items you buy. You can check out as a guest or with an account.
• When you create an account: your name, email address and password, plus any details you choose to add to your profile, such as your phone number or birthday. If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name and email address with us.
• When you sign up for our newsletter: your email address and, where asked, your name. You can sign up through the form on our website, during checkout, or on event sign-up forms.
• When you ask us a question: the name, email address and message you enter in the "Want to customize?" form on product pages, and anything you send us by email or tell us by phone.
• When you join an event guest list (for example, The Revival On Main): your name, email address, phone number, and whether you'd like our newsletter.
• When you buy from us in person at a show or event: your name and email address, your phone number if you choose to give it, the items you buy, and how you paid. These purchases are recorded in the same system as our online orders.

Your email address at checkout

When you enter your email address at checkout, we save it with your cart even if you don't finish placing your order. We use it to send you cart reminders (see below).

Payment information

Online card payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our website. In-person card payments are also processed by Stripe. We keep a record of each payment, such as the amount, date and payment method, but not your full card number.

Information collected automatically

When you visit our website, we and the services listed below automatically collect information such as:

• your IP address, browser and device type
• the pages you view, the products you look at, and what you add to your cart
• the website or ad that brought you to us
• the date and time of your visits.

Some of this is collected using cookies and similar technologies (see "Cookies").

How we use your information

We use your information to:

• process, ship and support your orders, including sending order confirmations and receipts
• run your account, if you have one
• answer your questions and custom order requests
• send our newsletter, if you've signed up
• send cart reminders, if you leave items in your cart
• prevent fraud, spam and abuse, for example with reCAPTCHA on some of our forms
• understand how our website is used, so we can improve it
• measure how well our advertising works, and show our ads to people who've visited our site
• meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

Cart reminder emails

If you enter your email address at checkout but don't complete your order, we may send you up to two reminder emails about the items in your cart:

• the first about two hours after your cart was last updated
• the second about a day after.

Each email has a link to stop further reminders, and reminders stop as soon as you place your order.

Newsletter

Our newsletter is sent using Mailchimp. Mailchimp tells us whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked, which helps us improve them. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any newsletter.

Analytics and advertising

We use the following services to understand how our website is used and to measure and improve our advertising:

• Google Analytics shows us how visitors use our website, for example which pages are popular and how people find us.
• Google Ads measures which of our ads lead to purchases, and lets us show our ads to people who have visited our site. When you complete a purchase, your email address, name and billing address are shared with Google in hashed (scrambled) form, to help match the purchase to an ad you saw or clicked.
• Google Tag Manager loads some of these services on our website.
• Meta (Facebook and Instagram) Pixel and Conversions API measure the results of our Meta ads and let us show our ads to people who have visited our site. To help Meta match website activity to its users, information such as your email address and phone number may be shared with Meta in hashed (scrambled) form. This is shared from your browser and from our website's server when you take actions like completing a purchase.
• Pinterest Tag measures the results of our Pinterest ads and lets us show our ads to people who have visited our site.

These services collect information about your visits, such as pages viewed, products viewed, items added to your cart, and purchases including the order value. They use it to provide their services to us, and may also use it under their own privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

To limit personalized advertising, you can use:

• Google: My Ad Center, and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See also how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Meta: your Facebook ad preferences.
• Pinterest: your Pinterest account's privacy and data settings.
• Industry opt-outs: the Digital Advertising Alliance and Network Advertising Initiative.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We and the services we use rely on cookies and similar technologies for:

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will stop the cart and sign-in from working.

Some of the services we use, such as the Meta Pixel, respect your browser's "Do Not Track" setting. Others don't, and our website doesn't otherwise change its behavior in response to it.

Content from other services

Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts and videos from Vimeo. These load directly from Google's and Vimeo's servers, so they receive your IP address and browser information. Links to our social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Bluesky) take you to those sites, which have their own privacy policies.

Who we share information with

We share personal information only as needed to run our business:

• to protect our rights or prevent fraud;
• or as part of a sale or transfer of our business.

International transfers

We operate in the United States and Australia. Our website and its data are hosted on servers in Australia, and the services we use process information in several countries, including the United States. Your information may be stored and processed outside the country where you live.

How long we keep information

Analytics and advertising services keep data according to their own settings and policies.

Security

Our website uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and card payments are handled by Stripe rather than stored by us. We limit who can access customer information. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect it.

Your choices and rights

• Emails:
  • Unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any newsletter.
  • Stop cart reminders using the link in the reminder.
  • We'll still send emails about your orders.
• Your account: view and update your details when signed in.
• Access, correction and deletion: email info [at] sturgisjewelry [dot] com to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. We may need to verify your identity, and we may keep some information where the law requires it, such as order records for tax purposes.

Children

Our website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
